Lazy Lobster

Lazy Lobster is a new concept in homeware. It is the brainchild of two close friends Jodie Jenkins and Bria Williamson, who met while working in schools in Norfolk.

The concept for their store comes from their shared passion for celebrating uniqueness and creating an inclusive environment which was central to their work in education. The Lazy Lobster style has been inspired by their shopping experiences in places like Brighton, Cambridge and London and their interest and insights into current trends. It promises customers a completely new shopping experience that will focus on giving the word ‘lazy’ a positive vibe.

Bria says, “Whilst the word ‘lazy’ often has negative connotations, we look at it more positively, as a good word to describe the times when you are entitled to down tools and look after yourself, whatever that entails. It could just mean putting your feet up on a comfy sofa! Our brand will appeal to people who see themselves as individuals and don’t follow the crowds. They appreciate products that are unique and are adventurous enough to try something new. They are looking for value, craftsmanship and authenticity and to buy from people who have a passion for sourcing them – that’s us!

“When people ask me what product lines, we’ll be stocking, it can be hard to give them a completely accurate answer, as we will vary our stock in accordance with what is ‘on trend’ and where we see a market for them. We’re very excited about what we have on the shelves for our opening but the fun and beauty of our type of shop is that what we sell will change very quickly. We can’t wait to see what our customers make of it.”

Examples of the types of things you’ll find on the shelves inside Lazy Lobster are ‘disco cherry’ wall-mounted mirrors, brick-shaped soaps, scented shower steamers, twisted candles, cat-themed sweatshirts and lip-decorated plates. Jodie said, “One of the things that we are really passionate about is good design. In fact, we have spent quite a bit of time designing and fitting out our shop so that it will provide our customers with the ‘wow’ factor.  The Royal Arcade is such an iconic building that we want to make sure that our shop looks great to showcase our thoughtfully curated home decor and gift products that have been sourced from artisans, skilled makers and small-scale manufacturers.

“Customers can expect our shop window to change a lot as we bring in new stock, so it will be worth their while popping in to see what’s new. We want people to feel inspired, expect the unexpected and to be delighted by the choice on our shelves.”
